On Monday, the Brescia University Women's Tennis Team traveled to Alice Lloyd College for a KIAC Conference match. The Lady Bearcats came back home with the 7-0 victory improving their KIAC Conference record to 2-3 on the season. The Bearcats started off well at #5 Singles with Senior Emily Adkins winning her singles match over Kathy McFarland 6-0, 6-1. "I thought Emily played well. She dominated the play from the start and used her forehand game well." stated Interim Women's Head Tennis Coach Brian Skortz. Fellow Seniors Dakota Durrett and Tarsila Duck won their singles matches with Dakota Durrett winning 6-1, 6-0 over Kennedy Damrow of Alice Lloyd College and Tarsila Duck by forfeit. "Dakota did a great job using her drop shot today in her straight sets win against Kennedy," stated Coach Skortz. The Bearcats won all singles matches with Taylor Wathen winning 6-0, 6-0 over Elly Fulks(ALC) and Naruemon Wiriyachon winning 6-0, 6-2 over Ramsey Dixon (ALC). In Doubles, the Bearcats won both matches with Seniors Dakota Durrett and Tarsila Duck winning by the score of 8-2 and the #2 Singles team of Taylor Wathen and Naruemon Wiriyachon winning 8-0. "Overall I am very proud on how the team performed today. There are still areas of improvement that we will continue to work on as we get ready for the upcoming KIAC Conference meet." stated Coach Skortz.
The Bearcats travel to Oakland City University on Oct 20th in a non-conference match prior to the KIAC Conference tournament.
