The Brescia Men's Basketball team dropped a pair of games this past weekend at the Marian Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana. On Saturday, the Bearcats played Calumet College of St. Joseph and led the Crimson Wave at the break 31-30. The game was dramatically different in the second half, as Brescia couldn't buy a basket, shooting 6-27 (22.2%) from the floor and just 2-12 (16.7%) from three-point range while CCSJ torched the nets for a 5-7 (71.4%) clip from behind the arc. Brescia also commited 17 turnovers, and this proved to be a bad combination for the Bearcats as they lost the first contest 75-57.
On Sunday, Brescia came out motivated and led the homestanding Knights of Marian University 25-24 after the first ten minutes of play. However, the Knights caught fire and it quickly became a repeat of Saturday's game for the Bearcats, with Marian ending the first half on a 32-3 run, shooting 9-13 (69.2%) from three-point range in the first half as Brescia finished the half cold, shooting 10-30 (33.3%) from the floor and 4-14 (28.6%) from three. For the game, Brescia continued to slump from the field, shooting 21-64 (32.8%) and 7-24 (29.2%) from deep, leading to a final score of 90-55 in Marian's favor.
Brescia will return to action on Friday afternoon at 2:00pm against Washington Adventist University at the Asbury Classic in Wilmore, KY.
