The Brescia Men's Basketball Team continued to play stifling defense on Tuesday as they hosted KIAC division foe IU-Kokomo. After being tied at 9-9 early on, Brescia kicked into gear and never looked back. The Bearcats saw their lead grow to as many as 17 points in the first half before settling for a 36-22 margin at the break.
The second half was even more dominant for Brescia, as the Bearcats extended their lead to a comfortable 33 points at the 9:46 mark. The lead allowed several players to see the floor for BU and eleven of them found the scoring column. Four Bearcats reached double-figures, led by 14 points from Trey Howard, followed by Austin Morris with 12. Freshmen Dillon Geralds and Mason Roland each had 10 points for Brescia. Nick Teeter led the way for IUK with 20 points.
For the game, IUK was held to only 33% (21-63) from the field and 31% (10-32) from three-point range, while Brescia shot 48% (28-59) from the floor and 42% (8-19) from deep. The Bearcats outrebounded the Cougars by 5 and had 17 assists, compared to 0 for IUK.
Brescia has a rare Saturday off from competition, and will return to the court on Tuesday, January 26th as they travel to Wilmore, Kentucky for a rematch with the Eagles of Asbury University.
