The visiting Grenadiers of IUS came out ready to go on Saturday, rolling to a 19-2 lead to start the game and never looking back in a a wire-to-wire KIAC win. Brescia's lackluster play out of the gate led to a 40-22 deficit at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Bearcats mounted a rally, cutting the lead to six with just under 8:00 remaining. However, IUS answered the Brescia run with one of their own, pushing the lead back out to ten points and making their free throws down the stretch to seal the twelve-point victory.
IUS placed four players in double-figures, led by 21 from Demetrius Stanton. For the game, the Grenadiers shot 25-54 (46.3%) from the field, including an impressive 9-18 (50%) from three-point range. Conversely, Brescia could only muster 23-61 (37.7%) from the floor and 7-20 (35%) from behind the arc.
The Bearcats remain in third place in the KIAC Capitol Division race and will host WVU Tech at home on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.
