The Brescia Men's Basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh, PA on Wednesday night to take on the Pioneers of Point Park University. Early on, the game went the Bearcats way, as they jumped out to a 29-15 lead with just under 9:00 left in the first half. However, Point Park finished the opening stanza on a 26-14 run to trail by only two at the break, 43-41.
In the second half, the two teams traded blows for the first 12:00, as the Bearcats and Pioneers were tied at 70-70 with 8:00 remaining. It was a two-point game, 76-74 in favor of the hosts, with 4:49 remaining when Point Park's offense exploded for four three-pointers on their next five possessions to put the game away.
The Pioneers shot 34-62 (54.8%) for the game, including an incredible performance in the second half, which saw them shoot 18-24 (75%) and 8-9 (88.9%) from three-point range. Kelvin Goodwin led PPU with 36 points and 8 assists, while TJ Lanier contributed 26 points and Jerah'me Williams had 20.
The Bearcats shot 30-61 (49.2%) for the contest and 15-34 (44.1%) from deep. Austin Morris led the way with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Jermain Langley recorded another double-double, scoring 16 points and dishing out 12 assists. Trey Howard scored 15 points to go with 6 rebounds and Kyle Nixon hit four three-pointers on his way to 14 points.
