Brescia Baseball comes back strong after first round loss to beat the Eagles of Asbury 9-7. The Bearcats put up a 5 spot in the top of the 2nd to take the lead against Asbury University and would not release it. Asbury was able to finally score a run in the bottom of the fourth but Brescia would answer with three more runs to expand the lead to 8-1 in the top of the 7th. Asbury was able to get a run across the plate in the bottom half of the 8th but Brescia would answer with another run in the top of the 9th. But Asbury would not just lay down, they were able to score five runs in the bottom of the 9th but this was not enough. The Bearcats eliminate the Eagles from the 2016 KIAC Conference tournament.
"We made it interesting in the end but fortunately we played almost flawless baseball for 8 innings and had a cushion that helped us. Tanner Tow gave us all he had on the mound and we made some big plays behind him that allowed us to work out of trouble. We had some big timely two strike two out hits that allowed us to take advantage of a few of their mistakes" (Coach Dickson)
The Bearcats will play again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. CST against the loser of I.U. Southeast and Point Park.
