The Asbury Eagles were ablegoals in to defeat the Brescia Bearcats by the score of 7-0 in WIlmore KY, but that does not show how welll the young Bearcats played. Asbury was able to tally three goals in the first half and four more in the second, but the Bearcats nonetheless showed flashes of brillance throughout the game. One thing that has been missing for the Bearcats this season is the ability to move the ball up the field under possession. The Bearcats were playing a very poised and strong defense and were able to earn 4 shots and 2 corner kicks. A hard week of practice proved to show great improvement in the concept of passing with purpose. Kassi Gilbert (FR/Lebanon Junction, KY) and Maryjo Williams (SR/Clay, KY) were both able to get strong pushes up the field aftern the defnese and midfield were able to pass the ball around before finding the front runners. The Bearcats played without starting midfielder Emma Payne (SO/Louisville, KY), and obvious injuries were noticed on players Darla West (SR), Allison Chappell (FR/Owensboro, KY), and Hannah Brown (FR/Portage, IN), but the Bearcats plugged away to still provide opportunites. Coach David Ralph said after the game, "I was obviously not pleased with the score, but the ladies are starting to play the entire concept of the game. I was pleased with the way we played and we will see things start to work better for us in the final score very quickly if we continue to improve as we have."
