The Men's basketball played in the Bethel Classic over the weekend. On Friday night the Bearcats played Blue Mountain College and beat the Toppers 86-83. The Bearcats scored 50 points off the benched led by Tavon Johnson's 26 points and Mason Roland's 14 points. Trey Howard added 11 points for the Bearcats as well. Johnson was 12 of 14 from the line as Brescia held onto its 3 point lead at halftime to win 86-83. On Saturday the Bearcats played the host school Bethel University (TN). Brescia lead at half 43-40, but Bethel's guard Darren Davidson responded by scoring 32 points in the game which helped Bethel win the game 97-91 over the Bearcats. Brescia was lead again by a player off the bench, Junior Nate Melchior scored 18 point on 7-9 shooting for the field. Dillon Geralds added 15point, Jordan Copper-Livers added 13 as well. The Bearcats were out rebounded by 12 as well as they shot only 63% from the free throw line. "We had some chances in the game against Bethel, we need to be more physical on the glass as we need to do a better job of protecting the paint. Good competition like this will make us better for conference play." stated Head Coach Brian Skortz. "We have some depth on the roster but we need to play more consistent." added Skortz. Junior Tavon Johnson was selected to the Bethel's Classic all tournament team. The Junior scored 38 point in the two games and shot 20 for 22 from the foul line.
