The Blue Raiders and Bearcats met for the 45th time in their schools history on Tuesday night. The two teams last played on Dec. 14, 2010 with Lindsey Wilson picking up an 85-56 victory. In this contest the Blue Raiders(12-5) jumped out to an early 13-0 lead powered by three consecutive three pointers and took a 45-31 lead into the half and limited the Bearcats (2-10) to just 29.7 percent from the field. Lindsey Wilson shot 51.5 from the field and was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Brescia would respond back as the Bearcats went on a 12-0 run to cut the Blue Raider lead to 65-55 with 9:44 remaining in the half. After the Bearcats had cut the lead to eight with 7:11 remaining Lindsey Wilson scored seven of the next nine points to take a 77-64 lead with 4:50 left in the second half but the young Bearcats went on a quick 5-0 run to cut the lead to 84-80 with under a minute to play. The Blue Raiders made three consecutive free throws to take an 87-80 with 30 seconds remaining. After two made free throws from the Bearcats and a Lindsey Wilson turnover Brescia was able to cut the lead to 89-87 with four seconds to play. After the Blue Raiders went 1-of-2 from the foul line to increase their lead to 90-87 they were able to intentional foul Freshman Tristen Murray before Brescia could attempt a three point shot. Murray went to the foul line missed the first and had to miss the second to give Brescia a chance for a tapout rebound for a three but the Bearcats fell short. Brescia shot 52.4% in the second half as well as getting 39 points from the bench.
Dillon Geralds led Brescia in scoring with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Freshman Kayode Daboiku had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Freshman Tristen Murray recorded 12 points and Senior Trey Howard had 11.
The Bearcats will play at the University of Rio Friday at 4pm CST.
