Brescia Women's Basketball hosted the Eagles of Cincinnati Christian for a west divisional match up. C.C.U. jumped out to a 14-7 lead to begin the game, but the Lady Bearcats would go on a 9-0 run to take the lead at the end of quarter. (16-14)
The Eagles would fight their way back to even (18-18) before Catherine Dunn and Alicia Salazar could stretch the lead back out to four about half way through the second quarter. Brescia would never give up the lead and end the first half leading by seven. (34-27)
The play would be steady to begin the second half, but the Bearcats would hold off all efforts from the Eagles to try and take over the lead. With the Bearcats, ahead 31-37 they would break the game open with back to back three point shots by Kelsey Kirkpatrick and Shelby Samsil, widening the lead to (31-43). Then off a missed shot by C.C.U. the Lady Bearcats could add two more to give them the largest lead of the game. (31-45) The Lady Eagles would put together a 14-6 run to close the gap to 6 with 2 minutes left in the third quarter. Brescia was again able to hold them off and end the third quarter with a 6-point lead. (54—48)
The fourth quarter would begin with the Lady Eagles again making a push, closing the gap to two points early. But the Lady Bearcats could hold them off one last time and secure their first RSC victory 59-52.
The Lady Bearcats had three players score 12 points to help them secure the win, Jayde Robinson, Catherine Dunn and Senior Shelby Samsil. Kelsey Kirkpatrick lead the team with 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Lady Bearcats are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on RSC west division opponent I.U. Kokomo. Tip off will be at 1:00 p.m. CST
