Brescia University Bearcats came out strong against a tough opponent tonight at home. Just before the halfway point of the first half was the last time, the Bearcats were down. By halftime, the Bearcats were up by 6 (34-28).
Coming out for the second half the Bearcats were able to hold onto their momentum. Maintaining their lead and even extending it out to 13 (62-49) with 7 minutes remaining in the ball game. The Trailblazer were able to come back within 4 (71-67) in the final minutes of the game, but the Bearcats would not allow them to get any closer. Brescia comes out on top with a final score 78-72.
"I thought the story of the night was defense. They are a very good offensive team that can flat out shoot the ball. We did a great job putting pressure on the ball tonight and challenged their shooters. Trey Howard, Tavon Johnson, Darion Morrow, Mason Roland and Tristan Murray all played well defensively with ball pressure. Dillon again had a great offensive game for us and Zack McDaniel stepped up when Daboiku went down with an ankle injury. Zack we felt coming into this game had a match-up in our favor against their big. Very proud of the team and how they responded tonight." added Head Coach Brian Skortz
Carter lead the Bearcats in rebounds with 8 and Howard lead in assists with 3.
Brescia moves into 2nd place in the west division of the RSC Conference.
Brescia will travel to Cincinnati Christian on January 31st for their next game. Tip-off is set for 6:30pm.
