Brescia University Baseball is hoping to build off a 4th place KIAC tournament finish in 2016 with a big year in 2017. The Bearcats returned 8 of 9 starting position players from the 2016 team in addition to 3 of the 4 conference starting pitchers from last years squad. "Although the 2016 was challenging for us in many ways, we are extremely excited about the group we have this year" Brescia Head Coach Andrew Dickson said. "We are a more expereinced team and feel that we have strong returners with a good mix of new players to take our program to new hieghts this year"
Brescia is looking to make a mark in the renamed River States Conference and is hopeful to return to the tournament this year and build off of last years finish. Dickson believes this years team is much deeper and has anticipates movement within the lineup and rotation. "For me the biggest difference from last years team to this years is our depth. There are going to be difficult decisions made daily in our lineup and I expect us to try some different options early to see who will truly settle in. It has been a very competitive year and we will have 6 guys fighting for 4 conference starter roles early in the season."
The Bearcats will see what they have for the first time on February 17th in a true road test whent thay take on the 4th ranked Tennesee Wesleyan Bulldogs.
