Brescia University traveled to Greencastle, Indiana to compete in the DePauw Indoor Classic. Bellarmine took the overall team victory, followed by host DePauw on the women's side. The Lady Bearcats failed to get on the scoreboard, despite having good performances.
Kassi Gilbert competed in the 60-meter dash, long jump, and triple jump. In the 60-meter dash she just miss qualifying for the finals, finishing 10th in a time of 9.06. She saw another 10th place finish in the long jump, 13' 4.75", and was unable to get a mark in the triple jump. Makenzie Jackson was stopped a lap early by an official in her 3000-meter run, she would have placed 4th in the event, which would have put the Lady Bearcats on the scoreboard.
"Both our ladies competed well today. Each week we are seeing improvements and I expect that to continue into our final meet next weekend. It is unfortunate that Jackson was stopped a lap short, but things happen. DePauw hosted a great meet and to my knowledge, this was one of the only slip-ups on the part of the officials", said Coach Stoffel.
The Lady Bearcats finish their indoor season next weekend as they head to Anderson University.
