After dropping Game one of the series 5-4 in extras the Bearcat bats came alive the rest of the series scoring 42 runs over the next 3 games of the series. The Bearcats were led offensively by Sophmore Colton Hurt, who went 7-15 on the weekend with a HR, 5 RBI, and 5 runs scored. It was Hurt's 3 run bomb in the the top of 1st in game 3 that got the offense going on day 2 of the series.
" It was an all around good series win for us. We have been talking about playying some consistent baseball and we have starated to do that over the last 5 games. Although it was a tough loss in game 1 of the series it was great to see us respond strong the rest of the series." Said Coach Dickson after the series. "This team is extremely talented and we have been very competitive all year and we have lost some close games but its nice to see us put togehter some complete games with both strong pitching and defense".
In game 2 of the series the Bearcats started down 3-0 after the first but quickly answered with 3 in the bottom half to tie it up. Freshman Alex Flock helped lead the way with 2 hits, 3 Stolen bases and 3 runs scored. Steven Standafer and Tanner tow also added 3 RBIs apiece to help lead the offense back. Freshman Zack Mcdonald picked up his second win of the week in relief in game 2.
The biggest start of the weekend goes to Sophmore Tanner Tow, who picked up his 3rd win of the season by throwing a complete game shutout in the Bearcats 14-0 win in game 3. To complete Tows big weekend he also added a 2 Run homer in the first inning of game 4 to keep the Brescia Bats going.
In Game 4 the Bearcats turned to Senior Tyler Solomon to take the mound and he delivered throwing 5 innings and allowing just 4 run on 2 hits and adding 6ks. The Brescia Pitching staff held the OCU offense to only 13 runs over the 4 game series.
The Bearcats contiue the home stand this week with a DH Tuesday vs. Lindsey Wilson before welcoming the Grenadiers from IU Southeast this next weekend for a big RSC series.
