OWENSBORO, KY – Brescia University Men's Soccer has released the 2017 schedule.
The Bearcats are coming off the most successful season in their last decade, finishing 9-8 overall and finishing tied for 4th in the conference and earning the 5th seed in the River States Conference tournament. Coming off such a season brings increased expectations for the 2017 season and tough schedule to match. The boys will play two exhibitions, nine non-conference matches and nine River States Conference matches, all in search of a post-season River States Conference Tournament bid.
"I am extremely excited for the 2017 season and I know the boys are as well. The schedule is very competitive. Both our exhibitions, as well as our out-of-conference play will be tough and will serve as a good catalyst for conference play. Our conference matches will be very tough as well and we will have to work hard to earn our 9th string conference tournament bid as a program" stated Head Coach Will Van Nostrand.
Brescia Men's Soccer will open up with two exhibitions versus Spalding University (NCAA DIII) and Kentucky Wesleyan College (NCAA DII). For their non-conference play, they will travel to Missouri Baptist and then host Freed-Hardman. They will then travel to Reinhardt where they will play Truett McConell and Reinhardt on back-to-back days. They will then travel to Georgetown before hosting Shawnee State. Next they will travel to U. of the Cumberlands before hosting Pikeville and Martin Methodist. The Bearcats will then open up RSC play by hosting National Runner-up Rio Grande and National Quarterfinalist West Virginal Tech. Next they will travel to Carlow and Point Park before playing host to Asbury. They will travel to Cincinnati Christian, before hosting Midway and they will end the regular season on the road at IU East and Ohio Christian.
Brescia must finish inside the top six or better in order to earn a bid to the conference tournament. Winner of the conference tournament then earns a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
