After a late night in the gym on Friday night, the Lady Bearcats would return for an 8 a.m. match against Robert Morris University. Assistant Coach Weyer was able to get the team ready and they would dominate the first set 25-12.
The Eagles of Robert Morris would come out in the second set and fight hard but the Lady Bearcats were able to hold them off and take a two-set lead in the match.
Again, the Eagles would come out strong in the third set and fight to eventually win set three 27-25. Now the Lady Bearcats needed to refocus and began to get back into a rhythm, but the Eagles had all the momentum and would take the fourth set 25-15. "No One likes to play a fifth set, anything can happen. Robert Morris was playing well and we needed to get focused or we were going to lose this!" (Coach Forbes)
The Lady Bearcats would jump out to a 9-4 led before Robert Morris would start to claw their way back. With some key errors by the Bearcats the Eagles were able to take a 14-13 led. But with the leadership of some key returning players, Brescia could hold off the Eagles and take the fifth set 16-14 and secure the win.
The Lady Bearcats were led by Jones with 13 kills and Ungerer added 10. Freshman Kristin Logsdon recorded 25 digs.
Next up for the Bearcats would be the host Foresters.
