The women's cross country team started their season at the Arthur Sciubba Invite just outside of Bowling Green, Kentucky. The team was led by Freshman Madeline Jones who ran 22:15.9 followed by Freshman Alexis Kaufer, Freshman Ashlie Carpenter, and Sophomore Autumn Tonkins. Alexis Kaufer ran 24:36.8, Ashlie Carpenter ran 26:32.9, and Autumn Tonkins ran 27:59.3.
When Coach Stoffel was asked about the race he said, "The girls looked very strong through the early portion of the race and I am excited to see the progress we're going to make over the next couple months."
The top three finishing teams in the meet were Shawnee State with 19 points, Linsey Wilson with 77 points, and Georgetown with 84 points.
The Lady Bearcats are competing next the 15th of September at the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. The start of the women's race is scheduled for 3:15pm CST.
