The Lady Bearcats played an inspired second half, but were unable to pull out a win in a 2-0 loss to the Pomeroys of St. Mary-of-the-Woods. The Bearcats were hoping to build off a good game against Oakland City on Saturday, but they were just unable to find the net. 25 minutes into the first half, the Pomeroy's Yadira Castelaenos played a nice ball to Hannah Miller who scored the game winner. In the 70th minute, Castallanos scored on her own for the final 2-0 tally.
The Bearcats came out very flat in the first half. After halftime, they did a fine job of picking up the pressure and forcing the ball down the field offensively. The best scoring opportunity came from a shot by freshman Michaela Knight in the 70th minute. Jerrica Kidd (SR/Stanford, KY) had some spectacular saves in the game and showed her strength in the last 7 seconds of the match where she stopped a PK and then a follow-up in succession.
Coach David Ralph said after the game he is still trying to figure out how to get the team going early. "I was hoping we would come out fired up after a good performance last game, but we came out very passive. We have to come out firing from the beginning and we just waited too long tonight."
The Bearcats host Spalding University Friday night at 7pm for their next match.
