OWENSBORO KY – The Brescia University Men's Soccer team hosted West Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon at Kamuf Park. Tech is coming off back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances, and started the 2017 season as the #6 ranked team.
Tech would strike first to take the 1-0 lead and go on to add two more goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the half. The second half would not be much different, as they would go on to add two more goals and cruse to a 5-0 lead. Brescia only created a handful of chances on the match, held goalless for only the second time this season.
"This was a very tough and physical match, added to the fact that our last two matches where played in the same physical manner versus two top 25 opponents, made it tough on us. The boys have really played hard over the last two weeks and injuries have started to add up for us. While I can't say we could have won today, I also don't feel we played too bad with all things considered. We need rest and we need to get healthy for the remainder of this season," stated Head Coach Will Van Nostrand.
Brescia travels to Pittsburgh next week to take on conference foes Carlow and Point Park on Friday and Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
