The Brescia Women's Cross Country team ran at the Greater Louisville Classic this past Saturday, September 30th. This was the women's third meet of the year and was another big day as they all set new PR's or season-bests. Madeline Jones led the team and dropped 40 seconds off of her college best with a finishing time of 21:42.0 followed by Alexis Kaufer, Autumn Tonkins and Ashlie Carpenter. Alexis Kaufer dropped over a minute coming in at 24:10.8. Autumn Tonkins dropped over two minutes off of her previous race with a new PR of 24:35.9. Ashlie Carpenter dropped over a minute and a half and crossed with a new season best of 25.11.2.
Coach Stoffel was asked after the race what he could take away from the day and what his goals were for the remaining portion of the season, he said, "What I am taking away is how these girls are responding to the training program and these girls are dropping so much time right now, I am hoping I can get Madeline under twenty-one minutes and Alexis, Autumn, and Ashlie under twenty-four minutes within the next two races.
The women compete next, October 7th, at the Fast Cats Classic. The Bearcats, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Daviess County High School host the meet together. The guns is set to go off at 9:30am for the women's race.
