Carlow University was able to put a halt to good performances by the Bearcats with a 7-0 victory at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh this past Saturday. Carlow used explosive starts to both halves as they scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the first half and 4 goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Coach David Ralph said he was a little stunned by the overall performance. "We do not have enough overall power to overcome mistakes that are inexcusable. None of the three goals in the first half were great goals. All three were simple mistakes caused by lack of focus. We have not been making those mistakes recently and it seemed they all showed up today and Carlow benefited."
Carlow used a spread offense that the Bearcats were able to contain at times. Offensively, Brescia had trouble finding any room to operate because of relentless pressure applied by Carlow. Senior Desirae Renfrow was able to make a couple of strong possessions from her center back position through the middle of the field, but nothing ever materialized.
