The Lady Bearcats took the first set 25-21, then St. Louis Pharmacy came back and took the second set 20-25. The Lady Bearcats responded with a 25-14 victory in the third set to set the tone of the match. "I am very pleased with the way the ladies responded in the three sets," said Forbes. "This shows how much they wanted this victory."
The fourth set was very eventful. About halfway through, outside hitter,
Jordan King, tripped over setter,
Paige Mingus' foot and then as she was falling to the floor, Jordan was hit in the side of the head by right side hitter,
Chelsea McFarland. Before Jordan hit the floor, she was out cold. EMT's were called to the Campus Center and Jordan was taken to the hospital for tests and further evaluation, which concluded she suffered from a concussion. She could be out for up to four weeks.
"Jordan's work ethic will be missed over the next few weeks," said Forbes. "She was just starting to get into a groove on the outside and her power will be hard to replace."
The Lady Bearcats regrouped and took the fourth set 25-19. Coach Forbes had this to say, "After starting the season slow, this is a big conference win for us. This gives us something to build on over the next few weeks."
