Head Coach Josh Gibson has officially released the Brescia Men's Basketball schedule for the 2012-13 season. Highlighted by thirteen home contests, this year's slate features Division 1 exhibition games with local powers Murray State University and Western Kentucky University, as well as a strong non-conference schedule leading into the KIAC season. The 2012-13 season will also see the return of all home games to the Campus Center, with the goal of increasing student and alumni support at all home contests.
The Bearcats will open up with IU-South Bend at home on October 27th, followed by games with Union (KY) and Campbellsville before heading to Murray State on November 9th. After playing the Racers, Brescia will head to Indianapolis to play in the Ken Elmendorf Memorial Classic at Marian University, and will play Mt. Vernon Nazarene (OH) and Marian University (IN). Between games against former KIAC foe Bethel (TN), the team will face Western Kentucky University on November 24th before embarking on the always-tough trek through the KIAC portion of the schedule.
KIAC play will begin with new member Point Park University (PA) on December 1st, and after stepping back out of conference to play IU-Kokomo, the Bearcats will travel to Alice Lloyd College on December 8th before rounding out the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule with games against Campbellsville and Cincinnati-Clermont.
After returning from Christmas break, the Bearcats will play four out of their first five games on the road. The team will travel to Pittsburg on December 30th to play Point Park before returning to campus to face IU-East on January 2nd. The next three games are all on the road, heading to Cincinnati Christian, Centre College, and Berea before finally playing on their home court again on January 14th against IU-Southeast and then again on January 19th against Cincinnati Christian.
Brescia will once more step out of league play for Cincinnati-Clermont on January 22nd, and then dive back into KIAC play with five consecutive conference games (Alice Lloyd, Asbury, Berea, IU-East, and Asbury again) before heading to St. Louis to take on the NCAA Division II Saints of Maryville University (MO) from the GLVC. Road conference games against St. Louis College of Pharmacy and IU-Southeast will be sandwiched around the final regular-season home game of the year on February 16th, against non-league foe IU-Kokomo before the Bearcats begin play in the KIAC Tournament from February 23rd-26th.
