The Brescia Bearcats Men's hoops team fought hard against a gritty Alice Lloyd College Eagles team in KIAC action on Saturday in Owensboro.
The first half was back and forth. Just when it seemed as though the Bearcats were pulling away, the Eagles made a late charge and held a 32-31 lead, but a late basket by Brescia made the halftime score 33-32 in favor of the Bearcats. Coach Gibson's halftime adjustments made a difference as Brescia slowly and methodically pulled away in the second half and led by as many as 16 with 3:12 remaining. But Alice Lloyd was not done fighting as they began making baskets late and closed to 71-65 with 44.1 seconds remaining. But made free throws down the stretch by Jermain Langley sealed the ten point victory for the Bearcats 76-65.
Brescia, 7-15 (2-7) won the battle of the boards 37-24 and held Alice Lloyd 9-14 (2-8) to 37.5% from the three point line and 41% shooting overall on the day.
The Bearcats were led in scoring by Myron Christian's 20 points while Hunter Rowe chipped in 10. Jermain Langley also had a strong performance with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. The Eagles were led by Isaac Wilson and Tyler Rogers each with 13 points.
Brescia returns to action Tuesday, January 29 at Asbury College.
