The Brescia bats opened the season on the road at the University of the Cumberlands for doubles header Thursday. After a long off season, third year head coach Aaron Biddle and his troops seemed eager to get the season started.
In game 1, the Bearcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning on Alex Hegge's first homerun of the year, but the Patriots were able to pull even in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI single by Jared Martin. The Bearcats again took the lead in the top of the 6th, thanks in part to two Patriot errors and back to back RBI hits by Brady Reese and Nate Crocker. In the bottom of the 6th, the Bearcat bullpen took over for starter Jackson Miles who threw five innings of one run baseball and allowed the Patriots to again tie the score. The Bearcats again took the lead in the top of the 7th on an RBI walk to Jordan Rhodes, but again the Patriots answered back for two runs in the bottom of the 7th for the 6-5 win.

Much like game 1, game 2 was a back and forth affair. The Bearcats again struck first on an RBI double by Nate Crocker, but again the Patriots answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the third. The Bearcats were able to pull even in the top of the fourth, when Alex Hegge was able to score from third after Cody Morris was ruled safe at first on a fielder's choice. The scored stayed even until the bottom of the 6th when scored on an RBI single by Zach McRoberts that proved to be the game-winner.
