The Brescia baseball team traveled to Pulaski, TN on Tuesday for a double header against the Martin Methodist Red Hawks. Coach Aaron Biddle and his troops were eager to regroup against the highly regarded Redhawks.
In Game 1, the Bearcats jumped out to an early lead on an RBI single by Hank Stewart in the first, but Martin Methodist quickly struck back with a five run first and never looked back. The Bearcats were able to get within a run with a three run third, but the Redhawks were able to answer with three of their own in the bottom half, which was capped off by a two run homerun from Evan Ferguson. In Game 2 , it was all Martin Methodist early. The Redhawks scored nine runs in the first four innings and held a 9-3 lead heading into the sixth. That's when the Bearcats exploded for six runs to pull even with Brady Reese, Nate Crocker, Logan Rascoe and Cody Morris all driving in runs. In the bottom half of the sixth, the Redhawks were able to answer back with two runs of their own. The first scoring on a wild pitch and the second on a sacrifice fly by Charles Hill to push the score to 11-9. In the top of the seventh, Brady Reese led off with a single and scored when Nate Crocker doubled to left. After Josh Brown entered the game in relief a sacrifice bunt moved Crocker to third. With one out Logan Rascoe hit a hard line drive that Shortstop Charles Hill leaped high in the air to rob Rascoe of a game-tying hit and save the lead. The next batter then popped out as Brown preserved the 11-10 win for the Redhawks.
