The Brescia men's basketball team traveled to Richmond, Indiana fo the 1st round of the KIAC tournament against IU East. The game was played at Earlham College in Richmond. Coach Josh Gibson said the team had a good week of practice and prepared mightily for this contest.
After falling behind 28-10 the Bearcats wrestled their way back into the contest with dogged determination, heart, and sharp 3-point shooting lead by Myron Christian. The halftime score was cut to 42-34 in favor of the Red Wolves.
The second half saw Brescia steadily claw their way into the game pulling to 44-42 around the 12:00 mark and tied at 44-44 soon after. The game was still tied at 54-54 at the 4:56 mark. Three point shooting helped the Bearcats effort as they took a 63-61 lead with 1:49 to play and 68-66 with :33.8 to play off a 3-pointer by Christian. Ironically it was a three pointer by the Red Wolves Cody Banet that put the Red Wolves in the lead for good with 24.5 to play and the score stood for a 69-68 final score.
There were 12 lead changes and 7 ties in the contest. The Bearcats won the battle of the boards 40-35 and were 11-24 from the 3-point arc.
Brescia was lead by Christian's 16 points and 6 rebounds. Jermain Langley had had 12 points and 9 assists. Brett Jackson and Austin Morris each had 11 points while Troy Halcomb chipped in 10 points. IU East was led by Huston Clark's 20 points.
The Bearcats season comes to an end with a record of (10-20) (4-12 KIAC).
