The Bearcat baseball team got its first victory of the season in Memphis, TN against the upstart Victory University Eagles. Coach Aaron Biddle and his troops were eager to earn a win after a tough start to the season.
In game 1, Victory jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. The Bearcats were able to chip away at the lead with two runs in the second, one in the fourth and one in the fifth. In the bottom of the seventh the Bearcats were able to get the tying run to plate, but came up short when Victory relief pitcher Barry Bartlett got a strike out to end the game.

In game 2, Victory was again able to score first on a third inning single by Benito Machado, but the Bearcats answered in the fourth when Logan Rascoe laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to score Alex Hegge to even the score at one. The Bearcats were then able to take their first lead of the day in the fifth when Hank Stewart doubled home Nate Crocker and Brady Reese. Christian McHatton, Logan Rascoe and Aaron King also drove in runs in the six run fifth. Victory wasn't done yet though. In their half of the fifth they were able to score five of their own, capped off by a three run homerun by Kent Voorhies to make the score 7-6. The Bearcats were able add a run in the sixth on a single by Stewart and two more in the seventh when Reese was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and an RBI single by Nate Crocker. Victory was able to push a run across in the bottom of the seventh and get the tying run to the plate before Aaron King came in to slam the door and get his first collegiate save.
