In the nightcap of the triple header, the Bearcats battled the Dakota State University Trojans and came away with a 7-5 win. Head coach Aaron Biddle and the boys were anxious to end the day with a home field victory.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on back to back sac flies by Alex Hegge and Hank Stewart and tacked on a third run when Logan Rascoe double home Christian McHatton. The Bearcats were able to extend their lead to four in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Stewart and were able to push the lead to 6-1 in the fourth on a two out, two run single by Hegge. After cruising for the first five innings Bearcat starter Cody Morris ran in to trouble in the sixth when Dakota State scored four thanks in part to a two run double by Anyelo Roman, who later scored on a wild pitch. When DSU was able to get the go ahead run to plate, the Bearcats went to Zach McLean out of the bullpen and he was able to stop the bleeding by getting a ground ball to end the inning. The Bearcats were able to add another run in the bottom of the sixth after Brady Reese tripled and Nate Crocker laid down a perfect squeeze bunt. In the bottom of the seventh, McLean retired DSU in order for his first career save and the 7-5 win.
