Led by overall runner-up Matt Lowe, Brescia finished third in the men's collegiate division of the Fast Cats Classic cross country competition Saturday at Yellow Creek Park.

Lowe, a senior, covered the eight-kilometer distance in 26:10, finishing nine seconds back of champion David Baker (26:01), who ran unattached.

Also scoring for the Bearcats were John Egan (fifth, 26:47), Tyler Blair (23rd, 27:46), Austin Curtis (51st, 29:06) and Andrew Beams (67th, 30:00).

Kentucky Wesleyan (10th, 240) was led by Josh Bratcher, who placed 36th in 28:24. Also scoring for the Panthers were Nick Richey (60th, 29:38), Michael Kincaid (72nd, 30:14), Brenton Smith (74th, 30:20) and Brent Mesplay (87th, 31:30).

 

The Bearcats (110) finished behind champion Austin Peay (50) and runner-up Indianapolis (58).

Women

Brescia 7th in Fast Cats Classic

Brescia placed seventh and Kentucky Wesleyan 10th in the collegiate division of the Fast Cats Classic at Yellow Creek Park.

The women ran 3.1 miles.

Scoring for the Lady Bearcats (202) were Jasmine Pulliam (43rd, 20:43), Olivia Warren (47th, 20:55.1), Sami Walker (48th, 20:55.9), Brittney Hybarger (55th, 21:10) and Cassandra King (59th, 21:34).

Scoring for KWC (256) were Taylor Owens (31st, 20:14), Kali Bonne (51st, 21:02), Raley Owens (52nd, 21:04), Brittney McCarthy (86th, 23:08) and Tiffany Clark (95th, 24:01).

Southern Indiana's Jackie Henderson was individual champion (18:26), and USI (20) easily won the team competition —- filling the top four individual spots.
