The Bearcats won both ends of a doubleheader at Alice Lloyd on Saturday.
In game 1, the Bearcats got on the board first. Alex Hegge and Vin Barbato started the second inning with back to back hit by pitches and then pulled off a double steal that saw the catcher's throw sail into left field allowing Hegge to score and Barbato to advance to third and score a couple pitches later on Tim Adam's RBI ground out. Alice Lloyd was able to get one back in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Shane Pack. The score stayed 2-1 until the fifth when Jordan Rhodes scored Eduardo Bermudez-Rosso from third on a ground out. Alice Lloyd got that run right back when Greg Wright's sacrifice fly scored Pack. In the top of the sixth, Alex Hegge got the Bearcats started with a lead-off double and scored on an RBI single by Barbato. Adams then followed with a bunt single and pinch runner Nick Woltermann came in an stole second. After a fielders choice saw Barbato tagged out at the plate, the Bearcats tried a suicide squeeze. With Woltermann breaking from third, the pitch was in the dirt and couldn't be bunted. The ball kicked off the catcher and up the third base line. As the catcher went to pick the ball up and make a tag, Woltermann jumped over top of him to score the run and push the lead to 5-2. The play would prove to be pivotal as Alice Lloyd pushed to across in the bottom of the seventh before Zach McLean picked up his second strikeout of the day for the third and final out.
The Bearcats tied a school record with eight stolen bases in the game. The record had previously been set just 11 days earlier in a win over Dakota State University.

The Bearcats added another run in the third when Cody Morris stole home on the back end of a double steal. Alice Lloyd tied the game again in the fourth when Greg Wright singled home Cody Hyden. The Bearcats took the lead again in the fifth when Nate Crocker and Alex Hegge had back to back RBI doubles and pushed the lead to three in the sixth when Vin Barbato's RBI groundout scored Zach Capps from third. In the bottom of the seventh, Alice Lloyd again tried to mount a comeback. After a one out double brought the tying run to the plate Starting Pitcher Christian McHatton was replaced by Zach McLean. After an RBI groundout, pinch hitter Zach Hancock doubled in another run to make the score 5-4, but McLean got the next batter to strikeout to preserve the win and pick up his fourth save.
