Coach Aaron Biddle and the Brescia baseball team hosted KIAC opponent Berea College in a double header in Owensboro, KY on Friday afternoon.
In game 1, Berea jumped out to an early lead. Blake Crowe and Johnathon Ives led off the game with back to back singles to put runners at first and third, with Crowe scoring on a ground ball double play for the game's first run. The Bearcats answered back in the bottom of the first, however, when Hank Stewart's two run single plated Jordan Rhodes and Alex Hegge. Berea's bats answered right back in the second, as the Mountaineers loaded the bases with two one out before Austin Hunt's three run double cleared them and scored a batter later on an RBI single by Mikey Scott to give them a 5-2 lead. The Bearcats, would pull to within one in the third inning when Hegge plated Rhodes and Nate Crocker after Rhodes had walked and Crocker had doubled to start the inning. Berea was able to get one back in the fourth thanks in large part to a throwing error. The Bearcats weren't about to go away, and Hegge again drove in Crocker with an RBI single in the fifth to make the score 6-5. In the bottom of the sixth, Cody Morris led off with a single and then stole second before Tim Adams RBI single tied the game. Pinch Runner Logan Rascoe promptly stole second and scored on Nick Woltermann's RBI single gave the Bearcats the lead. In the top of the seventh, the Bearcats brought in Closer Zach McLean in relief of Caleb McIntire who had pitched a scoreless sixth. After a lead-off double by Mikey Scott put the tying run in scoring position, McLean got two pop ups and a ground ball to close the game.

In game 2, it was the Bearcats that jumped out to an early lead. Cody Morris scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second on a throwing error and in the third plated two more on a two out double by Hank Stewart. But just like the Bearcats in game 1, Berea had an answer. After a double and a single started the inning, Mikey Scott hit a sacrifice fly to plate the first run and after a Ryan Akins single, Austin Hunt hit a two run double to tie the game. In the top of the fifth, Logan Hunt led off with a double and after advancing to third on a wild pitch, scored on an RBI ground out by Blake Crowe to give Berea their first lead of the game. The Bearcats, however, answered again. Brady Reese led off with a bunt single and Jordan Rhodes laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move him to second before Nate Crocker delivered an RBI single to tie the game. Alex Hegge then worked a walk setting up Hank Stewart, who delivered a three run homerun to give the Bearcats the 7-4 lead. Caleb McIntire would pick up his second win of the night with a perfect 1 2/3 innings of relief before Zach McLean pitched a one, two, three seventh for his sixth save of the year and second of the night.
