Brescia men's basketball coach Josh Gibson signed his first two recruits for the 2013-2014 class. Ryne and Trey Tinsley are the first two players to sign with the Bearcats for next year. The twins played at Glasgow (KY) High School for their father, renowned Kentucky high school boys head coach John Tinsley. "We are fortunate to have Ryne and Trey as our first two official pieces of this recruiting class," said Coach Gibson, "I want Brescia Basketball to be known for its intensity, character, and success on and off the court, and these two players will help us establish that reputation. Both Ryne and Trey are accomplished players with a tremendous work ethic and passion for the game. They possess the basketball acumen and feel that you would expect from the sons of an accomplished coach, and we are happy to have them as the newest members of our team."
Trey had a stellar career for the Scotties, including shooting 48% from 3-point range his senior year and scoring 1058 total points, 3 district championships, 3-time All-District selection, 2-time All-Region selection, Glasgow's career leader in 3pt makes and percentage (44%), connected on a school single-season record 82 3's as a sophomore at Grayson County. Coach Gibson says, "Trey is a very solid player, and he can really shoot the basketball. He's also a tough-minded young man who doesn't back down from a challenge and will bring great intensity to our team on a daily basis. I am looking forward to watching him develop as a member of our program."
Ryne also had a dynamic career, scoring more than 600 points while dishing out over 350 assists, 3 district championships, 3-time All-District selection, 2-time All-Region selection, 3-to-1 assist/turnover ratio for career. Coach Gibson says, "Ryne is a true point guard. He knows the game and possesses a strong, fundamental understanding of what a team needs to be successful. He brings great energy to his teammates and knows the role of every player on the court and how to help them reach their potential. I am excited to have him join the Bearcat family."
