The Bearcats fell 3-1 on Monday night at Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, KY.
Brescia scored first in the game, tallying a run in the top of the first frame when Hank Stewart lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Nate Crocker and put the Bearcats up 1-0. Mid-Continent broke through in the second inning, when an error allowed Mid-Continent to push across their first run. In the fifth, Mid-Continent plated their second run on a fielder's choice to take a 2-1 lead. In the sixth, Richard Arias delivered a Pinch-hit RBI double to extend the Cougars' lead to 3-1. That proved to be enough for the Mid-Continent pitching staff. The Cougars did allow several baserunners, but in classic bend-but-don't-break fashion, everytime Mid-Continent needed to get a big out, their pitching staff was able to get it. Brescia recorded 10 hits in the final eight innings, but Mid-Continent pitching was able to hold the Bearcats' offense off the board, as the Cougars took the win 3-1.
