The #3 seed Brescia baseball team fell to #6 seed Alice Lloyd 7-4 in the 1st round of the KIAC tournament in New Albany, IN on Wednesday. Brescia advances to the elimination bracket and waits to face the winner of Point Park & Berea on Thursday at 3pm.
Both teams traded runs in the first inning with Alice Lloyd scoring on an RBI single by Cody Hyden and Brescia answering on an RBI double by Hank Stewart, but Alice Lloyd erupted for three runs in the top of the second thanks to a two run triple by Ben Ray. That's where the score would stay until the top of the fifth, when the Bearcats scored two on RBI hits from Shane Pack and Kevin Smith. The Bearcats got on back in each of the next two innings to pull back within two, but Alice Lloyd added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Bobby Caldwell to make the score 7-4. The Bearcats would threaten in the eighth and ninth getting the tying run to the plate in both innings, but Alice Lloyd Pitcher Neil Dillon was able to work out of trouble both times in route to the complete game win.
