After losing the Opening Round game at the KIAC Tournament the Bearcats were forced into defense mode. With every game having the potential to be the season's last, the Bearcats would have to fight back thru the Loser's Bracket. On Day Two the opponent would be Berea in a win or go home contest.
Berea would be the team to strike first in the contest, when Zack Blanken singled home Ryan Akins for the game's first run in the top of the second. The Bearcats would finally get on the board in the fourth with RBI hits from Hank Stewart and Vin Barbato each scoring a run and the Bearcats plating a third run on an error to take a 3-1 lead. Berea bounced right back in the fifth on a two run single by Ty Shipley to even the score at 3.
That's where the score would stay until the bottom of the ninth, as Pitchers Zach McLean and Trent Hazelwood threw zeros at each other. In the bottom of the ninth, Vin Barbato reached on an error to get things started. Pinch Hitter Corey Moore then bounced into a fielder's choice and Cody Morris was called off the bench to pinch run. The next batter Brady Reese was then hit by a pitch to move the winning run into score position. That's when Nate Crocker jumped on a first pitch and lined a single to left field to score Morris with the winning run and give the Bearcats another day of baseball.
