After sending Berea home on Thursday, the Bearcats euqaled the task against the Mountaineers on Friday to stay alive in the KIAC Baseball Tournament.
Asbury was able to strike first on a bases loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, but from there it was all Bearcats. In the top of the second, Brady Reese and Nate Crocker both drove in runs to give the Bearcats the lead 2-1. In the top of the fourth, the Bearcats broke things open thanks in part to two Asbury errors and an RBI single by Alex Hegge pushing the lead to 6-1. The Bearcats added three more in the fifth, on an RBI double by Tim Adams and another Asbury error. In the top of the sixth, Christian McHatton plated another run on a sacrifice fly. Then in the seventh, Jordan Rhodes plated two more on a two run double to make the score 12-1.
Starting Pitcher Cody Morris worked six innings of six hit, one run baseball as he cruised to his fourth win of the season. Caleb McIntire, Aaron King, Ryan Lutz, and Tyler Edmunds worked the last three innings allowing just two hits.
Brescia now moves on to face the loser of IU Southeast and Point Park on Friday night.
