Brescia Hall of Famer Jason Cox and current men's golfer William McKenzie have qualified for the Kentucky State Amateur Open golf tournament.
Cox, Brescia class of 1997 and 2002 Brescia Hall of Fame inductee shot a 73 on June 2nd at Henderson Country Club in Henderson, KY, winning his qualifier by 5 strokes. Cox says, "I've been playing pretty well lately. I'm looking forward to this event more than i have been in the past few years." This will be his 13th time in the Open. His best finish was 2nd in 2002 to current PGA golfer J.B. Holmes.
McKenzie, a current rising junior for the Bearcats also shot a 73 on June 8th at Bowling Green Country Club tying for 3rd in his qualifier. In qualifying for his 1st Open, McKenzie says, "I feel really good about it. I've been putting really well lately and have a lot of confidence in my game." The event will be held at the Bowling Green Country Club June 18-20.
