The men's cross country team had a strong performance in their season opener at Asbury this weekend. The Bearcats were led by newcomer, Micheal Dowell who finished 5th. Sophomore, Jared Daugherty was the second finisher for the team at 19th, closely followed by sophomore, Drew Atkins at 22nd.
After over an hour of weather delays the team battled extreme heat and an extremely difficult course to finish 4th in the meet and 9 points ahead of KIAC opponent, Asbury.
"The men's team really ran well today," said coach Alan Schulze, "Dowell had a huge race which is a sign of good things to come. I don't know if there's anyone on the team that's worked harder than Jared and it really showed."
The Bearcats are back in action this Friday when they travel to run at the University of Southern Indiana.
