The Brescia men's basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh, PA for their KIAC opener against the Pioneers of Point Park University.
Brescia led early thanks to two 3's by Jermain Langley, but the game was a battle from there with five ties in the first half the last at 21-21 at the 4:49 mark. The Pioneers managed a little breathing room after that leading 32-38 at the half. In the second half the Pioneers methodically paced a lead that got up to as many as 20 points (68-48) at the 7:54 mark. But coach Josh Gibson calmed his team and preached defense as the Bearcats clawed their way all the way back to tie the game at 79-79 after a Decarlos Collier 3 point shot with :22 left in the game. The Pioneers then came down and hit a 3 point shot with :06 remaining to seal the fate of the Bearcats for good. Brescia would drop the contest 82-79.
Brescia falls to (5-5) (0-1 KIAC) on the season.
