The Brescia men's basketball team hosted the IU East Red Wolves on Wednesday night in The Den. The game was a make up of the December 7 match that was postponed due to inclimate weather.
This game was tight from the beginning as the two teams traded baskets with Brescia trailing IUEast 22-20 at the 11:33 mark. It was still a one point game at the next timeout at the 7:34 mark with the Red Wolves leading the Bearcats 30-29. Brescia tied the game at 33-33 off of Jermain Langely free throws and then took the lead at the 2:22 mark and lead at the half 46-45.
The second half was much like the first with IUEast coming out shooting hot but the Bearcats hung tough and still clinged to a two point lead (61-59) at the 12:43 mark. A key 3-point basket by Decarlos Collier saw the Bearcats finally begin to extend a lead (73-69) at the 8:12 mark. Brescia hits some clutch free throws down the stretch and go on to defeat the Red Wolves 95-88 in front of a capacity crowd at The Den.
The game featured 18 lead changes and 17 ties. Brescia shot 30 of 31 from the foul line and 6 of 13 from behind the 3-point arc. Brescia also out rebounded IUEast 34-29. The Red Wolves were led in scoring by Tyler Fangman and Vasha Davis each scoring 28 points.
