The Brescia men's basketball team hosted the Berea College Mountaineers in a crucial KIAC matchup on Saturday afternoon in The Den. Brescia jumped out to a 16-8 lead before Berea came storming back and trailed by one (21-20) at the 4:00 mark. They went on to dominate the end of the half and lead the Bearcats 28-23.
Berea extended the lead to ten point at the 17:56 mark of the second half leading 35-25 before coach Josh Gibson called a timeout to calm the troops. The Bearcats would then methodically claw back into the match cutting the lead to eight, then seven, then six by the 5:20 mark. The game was tied at 58-58 at the 1:46 mark and the Bearcats never looked back taking a favorable home crowd and momentum, they go on to win 64-63. Coach Gibson said, "We won a game shooting 35% from the field and 26% from three, that's very hard to do, but we'll take the win make no mistake."
Brescia improves to (12-8) (6-4 KIAC) and are riding a season high four game conference winning streak and sit at 4th place in the KIAC. The Bearcats next play IU Kokomo in The Den Thursday, February 6th at 7pm.
