The Bearcats hosted Trinity Christian College in their home opener on Saturday night at Schadler Field in Kamuf Park.
In Game 1, the Trojans of Trinity Christian jumped out to a first inning lead when leadoff man Joe McCaw doubled to start the game and was singled home a batter later on a single by Mark Munizzi. That's where the score would stay until the third when Daniel Lokesak (JR, Florence, KY) tripled home Brady Reese (SO, Villa Hills, KY) to tie the score at one. The next batter Nate Crocker (SR, Porterville, CA) then scored Lokesak with an RBI single. After a walk to Alex Hegge (SR, Bellevue, KY), Hank Stewart (SR, Cartersville, GA) delivered a three run homerun to give the Bearcats a 5-1 lead. That's where the score would stay until bottom of the sixth. After a leadoff double by Christian McHatton (JR, Henderson, KY) to start the inning, Pinch Runner Josh Wetzel (FR, Metropolis, IL) would score on a wild pitch to push the lead to 6-1.
After allowing the first inning run, Starting Pitcher Drew Shoulders was able to settle in en route to the first complete game of his college career. Shoulders allowed four hits and struck out seven, while recording his first win of the year.

Game 2 was all Bearcats as well. After allowing a first inning run, the Bearcats offense exploded for ten runs in the bottom of the first. Seven out of the nine starters had first inning RBI's. Aaron King (SO, Waverly, KY)'s second inning RBI single drove in another run in the second. Trinity Christian added another run in the third with a sac flay by Josh Thomas. In the fourth, the Trojans took advantage of two Bearcats errors to push two more runs across. Another sac fly in the fifth by Trinity Christian would make the score 11-5, but Relief Pitcher Chad Cox (SO, Paducah, KY) pitched out of a jam to move to the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth Nick Woltermann (SO, Fort Thomas, KY)'s two run double added two more Bearcats runs. Woltermann would later score on a wild pitch to make the score 14-5. Cox would work a 1, 2 , 3 sixth and Evan Dyer (FR, Louisville, KY) would work the seventh for the 14-5 win.
