The Bearcats track teams competed at the Depauw Classic on 2/22. The meet was host to many of the top teams in the area with very good competition. At the competition, Brescia University saw five school records broken. This is the most amount of school records set in one meet for the Bearcats.
For the Lady Bearcats, the day began with a school record in the distance medley relay. The team of Samantha Walker (JR), Courtney Naas, Cassie King (JR), and Jasmine Pulliam (SR) placed 4th in the meet with a time of 14:14.
A mere 30 minutes later, Embra Hawkins (JR) broke the 5,000m school record by 20seconds with a time of 19:17. She placed 8th overall in the race. In the 800m run, Brescia had three female competitors, with Cassie King setting a new school record with a time of 2:31.79. Jasmine Pulliam and Samantha Walker were also in the race. Walker ran a time of 2:38 while Pulliam ran a new personal record of 2:40.
Freshman, Courtney Naas ran a personal best of 11:33 in the 3,000m run. The time is the fastest in school history by a freshman.
Coach Alan Schulze had the following remarks: "It's always fun to close out the season on a high note. I'm really proud of the whole team; they've had to overcome a lot this season. It shows a lot of promise for our upcoming outdoor season."
