The Brescia men's basketball team hosted the Alice Lloyd Eagles in the first round of the KIAC Tournament on Tuesday evening in The Den. The game was physical affair and scoring started out slow for both teams but the Eagles led by 12 with 5:44 left in the first half, but the Bearcats clawed back into the game but still trailed at the half 36-27. The second half saw the Bearcats methodically inched back into the game and took the lead 57-51 lead over Alice Lloyd with 6:44 left to play and extended it to 63-55 with 3:39 left. Brescia would get outscored 10-2 in the final few minutes and go to overtime tied 65-65. In the extra period, Alice Lloyd were determined and took the game right to the Bearcats. Brescia was unfortunate with some shots that didn't go in and the Eagles pull off the upset in The Den 75-71 ove the Bearcats.
Coach Josh Gibson said, "I am so proud of this team for how they carried themselves all year long. They showed intergrity, strong character and heart and i could not be more proud of their actions tonight or throughout the season."
Leading the way for Brescia was Austin Morris (SO, Evansville, IN) with 26 and 13 rebounds. Jermain Langley (SO, Henderson, KY) and Brett Jackson (SR, Bowling Green, KY) each had 14 points as well for the Bearcats. This game marked the final in the careers of Jackson and Hunter Rowe (SR, Owensboro, KY) each of whom have had outstanding careers at Brescia.
Brescia ends the 2013-2014 season at 16-12.
