The Brescia Baseball team opened up conference play with a doubleheader on Friday at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY.
In game 1, the Bearcats offense erupted for 25 runs. In the first inning, the Bearcats plated four, highlighted by Catcher Hank Stewart (SR, Cartersville, GA)'s three run homerun. In the second the Bearcats added seven more runs. Stewart drove in two runs in the inning, while four other Bearcats added an RBI. The Bearcats added three more runs in the third with Stewart driving in another run. Second Baseman Vin Barbato (SR, Utica, NY) drove in a run in the fourth. The Bearcats added five more in the fifth, again highlighted by a three run double by Stewart giving him nine RBI's on the game. The nine RBI performance set a new single game record for the Bearcats, as they rolled to a 25-6 win.
Starting Pitcher Andrew Shoulders (SR, Boonville, IN) went the distance allowing 11 hits and four earned runs while striking out four. The win improved Shoulders to 5-1 on the year with two complete games.

In game 2, Asbury jumped out to an early lead plating a run in the first on an RBI groundout and one in the second on an RBI single by Tyler Messner. The Bearcats would get their first run in the third on an RBI single by Shortstop Nate Crocker (SR, Porterville, CA). The Bearcats would add five more runs in the fourth, as Designated Hitter Hank Stewart delivered a solo shot and Second Baseman Vin Barbato, Catcher Aaron King (SO, Waverly, KY), and Center Fielder Brady Reese (SO, Villa Hills, KY) each drove in a run to make the score 6-2. Asbury would get two runs back in the bottom of the fourth to pull to within two runs. In the fifth, the Bearcats added a run on an RBI single by Right Fielder Nick Woltermann (SO, Fort Thomas, KY), but Asbury would get three of their own in the bottom of the inning to pull even at seven.
The Bearcats offense would erupt again in the sixth, as Third Baseman Alex Hegge (SR, Bellevue, KY) delivered a two run double and First Baseman Hank Stewart delivered a grand slam to push the lead to 13-7. The Bearcats added five more runs in the seventh as Shortstop Nate Crocker singled in a run, Third Baseman Alex Hegge tripled home a run and Stewart delivered a three run shot for his second homerun of the night.
Bearcat Starting Pitcher Jackson Miles (SR, Indianapolis, IN) worked five innings allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. Caleb McIntire (SO, Owensboro, KY) and Connor Showalter (FR, Georgetown, KY) each worked an inning of relief to close out the 18-7 win.
