The brescia baseball team hosted the Martin Methodist College Redhawks in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Schadler Field.
In game 1, the Bearcats got on the board first when Catcher Hank Stewart (SR/Cartersville, GA) singled home Left Fielder Daniel Lokesak (JR/Florence, KY) in the bottom of the third. The Bearcats added a run thanks to a Martin Methodist error in the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bearcats added two more runs in the fifth. The first came when First Baseman Christian McHatton (JR/Henderson, KY) tripled home a run and Right Fielder Nick Woltermann (SO/Fort Thomas, KY) singled home McHatton to push the lead to 4-0. Martin Methodist finally got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single by Evan Ferguson and an RBI groundout by Ryan Jett. The Bearcats would get one of those runs back in the bottom half of the sixth when Third Baseman Alex Hegge (SR/Bellevue, KY) singled home Shortsop Nate Crocker (SR/Porterville, CA) to make the score 5-2.
Bearcat Starter Cody Morris (JR/Mt. Washington, KY) worked six strong innings on way to picking up his second win of the year. Morris allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out six. Closer Michael McIntosh (JR/Evansville, IN) worked the seventh for his seventh save of the year.

In game 2, Martin Methodist jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning. Brodie Jeffery drove in a run with an RBI single and Chase Denton drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. That's where the score would stay until the top of the sixth when Evan Ferguson singled home the third run of the day for Martin Methodist. The Redhawks would add another run in the seventh thanks to a Bearcat error to make the score 4-0. The Bearcats would get their first hit and run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Shortstop Nate Crocker led off with a single and advanced to third on an error before scoring on an RBI groundout by Left Fielder Dan Lokesak. Martin Methodist Starter Blake Beavers would retire the next two batters to close out a 4-1 win for the Redhawks.
The Bearcats currently sit at 19-10 on the season and have a big conference series with #19 Point Park University at home on Friday at 4:00 and Saturday at 12:00. The Bearcats are currently 3-1 in KIAC play and Point Park is 4-0.
