On Friday the Brescia baseball team hosted #19 Point Park University in a KIAC doubleheader at Schadler Field in Kamuf Park.
In game 1, Point Park jumped on the board first with a solo homerun off the bat of Michael DeJesus in the third. Bearcat Starter Andrew Shoulders (SR/Boonville, IN) and Point Park Starter Manny Perdomo would proceed to match zeros from that point until the bottom of the sixth. Center Fielder Brady Reese (SO/Villa Hills, KY) would lead things off with a double, Shortstop Nate Crocker (SR/Porterville, CA) would follow with a walk. Left Fielder Daniel Lokesak (JR/Florence, KY) then stepped to the plate and lined a single up the middle scoring Reese for the Bearcats first run. Third Baseman Alex Hegge (SR/Bellevue, KY) then laid down a bunt hit to load the bases with no one out for Catcher Hank Stewart (SR/Cartersville, GA), who drew a bases loaded walk to give the Bearcats their first lead of the day. First Baseman Christian McHatton (JR/Henderson, KY) followed with a two run single to make the score 4-1. The Bearcats would add three more in the inning on a bases loaded walk by Second Baseman Vin Barbato (SR/Utica, NY) and a two run single by Reese to make the score 7-1.
Shoulders would go the distance for his sixth win of the year and third complete game. Shoulders allowed four hits and a run with one strike out.

In game 2, it was the Bearcats who jumped on the board first with two runs in the second. The first run scored on an error and Shortstop Nate Crocker drove in the second with an RBI groundout to make the score 2-0. Point Park would finally get on the board in the fourth when Javy Marticorena delivered a two run homerun to tie things 2-2. Point Park would add four more runs in the inning thanks to an RBI double by Oscar Romero and a Bearcat error to push the lead to 6-2. Point Park would add another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Stefan Mrkonja to push the lead to five. The Bearcats would answer in the bottom of the fifth with five runs on four Point Park errors. First Baseman Christian McHatton would drive in two in the inning with a two run single and would come around to score when the ball was misplayed in left field. With two outs in the inning Catcher Aaron King (SO/Waverly, KY) would draw a walk and Second Baseman Vin Barbato doubled down the right field line to put the tying run 90 feet away. Center Fielder Brady Reese laid down a perfect drag bunt to score the run and tie the game at seven.
In the top of the seventh Point Park threatened to score, but Pinch Runner Ossie Alfonso was thrown out at the plate after a ground ball ricocheted off the glove of McHatton right to Barbato at second, who fired home to King for the out. King would lead off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single and was replaced by Pinch Runner Josh Wetzel (FR/Metropolis, IL). Barbato would sacfrice Wetzel to second and Wetzel moved onto third on a groundout for the second out. Crocker would then hit a slow roller to short and beat the throw to first allowing Wetzel to score with the game winner.
The Bearcats got excellent relief pitching on the night, as Matt Gunderson (JR/Mount Vernon, WA), Chad Cox (SO/Paducah, KY), Taylor Garcia-Grisham (JR/Tarzana, CA) and Michael McIntosh (JR/Evansville, IN) combined to work 3 2/3 innings of three hit one run baseball.
