On Saturday the Brescia baseball team resumed their KIAC series vs. #19 Point Park University at Schadler Field.
In Game 1 it was all Bearcats from the beginning. The Bearcats plated four runs in the first with the first two coming on a two run single by NAIA RBI leader Hank Stewart (SR/Cartersville, GA). Designated Hitter Aaron King (SO/Waverly, KY) would follow with a two run double for the Bearcats other two runs. The Bearcats would add four more runs in the second, as Third Baseman Alex Hegge (SR/Bellevue, KY) and First Baseman Christian McHatton (JR/Henderson, KY) each drove in a run and Right Fielder Nick Woltermann (SO/Fort Thomas, KY) doubled home two more to give the Bearcats an 8-0 lead. Point Park would get a run in the fourth on a fielder's choice and add two more in the fifth, but the Bearcats cruised to an 8-3 win.
Starting Pitcher Zach Sciaccotta (JR/Elmwood Park, IL) worked six solid innings allowing five hits, three runs (two earned) while striking out two on way to his second win of the year. Relief Pitcher Cody Morris (JR/Mt. Washington, KY) worked a scoreless seventh to close out the win.

In game 2 Point Park would strike first with four runs in the third. Yuliecer Arias, Javy Marticorena and Jordan Crowell each drove in runs. The score would stay 4-0 until the bottom of the sixth. With one out Left Fielder Daniel Lokesak (JR/Florence, KY) singled and stole second before scoring on an RBI single by Third Baseman Alex Hegge. Hegge would then come around to score on a double by First Baseman Hank Stewart. After a single by Designated Hitter Christian McHatton and a Point Park error loaded the bases, Stewart scored on a wild pitch moving the tying run to third and the winning run to second. That's when Pinch Hitter Aaron King singled to left scoring both runs and giving the Bearcats a 5-4 lead.
Closer Michael McIntosh (JR/Evansville, IN) would work a one, two, three seventh for his eighth save of the year tying a single season record that was set just last year. Relief Pitcher Caleb McIntire (SO/Owensboro, KY) worked a scoreless sixth to earn his second win of the season.
The Bearcats improve to 23-10 on the year and 7-1 in KIAC play giving them a two game lead over second place Berea. The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday at Mid-Continent University for a doubleheader and will return home on Friday and Saturday for a KIAC series against Indiana University Southeast.
