The Brescia baseball team hosted the IU-Southeast Grenadiers on Friday night in a KIAC Doubleheader at Schadler Field in Kamuf Park.
In the first game the Bearcats jumped out to an early lead. In the bottom of the first Catcher Hank Stewart (SR/Cartersville, GA) doubled home the game's first run and First Baseman Christian McHatton (JR/Henderson, KY) singled home the second as the Bearcats took a 2-0 lead. The Bearcats would add four more runs in the third as Stewart, McHatton, Right Fielder Nick Woltermann (SO/Fort Thomas, KY) and Second Baseman Vin Barbato (SR/Utica, NY) each drove in a run. The Bearcats would add a seventh and final run in the fourth as they cruised to a 7-0 victory.
Bearcat Starter Andrew Shoulders (SR/Boonville, IN) fired his first career shutout and fourth complete game of the year in route to his seventh win. Shoulders allowed five hits, while striking out four and did not allow a walk.

In game two the Bearcats again got on the board first. First Baseman Christian McHatton lifted a sac fly to score the game's first run in the bottom of the first. IU-Southeast struck back in the third as Jake Roberts and Kyle Rupe each drove in runs. IU-Southeast would add a third run in the top of the fourth when Tyler Adams drove in another run to make the score 3-1. That's where the score would stay the rest of the night.
IU-Southeast Starter Greg Laughlin would work five and 1/3 innings and Closer Evan Bickett closed it out. The Bearcats had a couple of chances to get back in the game, but two magnificent plays by Second Baseman Frank Pluskota saved runs in the 3-1 IU-Southeast win.
The two clubs will be back in action on Saturday with a scheduled start time of 1:00.
